Constance Wicklund Gildea designs and creates her beautiful collection of jewelry in her New England studio. She holds a B.F.A. in sculpture, which is evident in the intricate detail of each piece.
Connie works in sterling silver, fine silver and gold. She uses the skillful method of Keum-boo, which is an ancient Asian technique of bonding 24kt gold and fine silver. The beautiful combination of pure gold and pure silver is achieved not by melting but actually by the diffusion of the two metals. When 24kt gold and fine silver are heated to an exact temperature, the atoms of the metals interchange with each other, creating a permanent, lasting bond.
